Bo Jo on the naughty step again!
I think calling this past week a complete shambles would be a hideous understatement. To do so would be like referring to the Somme as ‘a slight kerfuffle’. It is blatantly obvious that our ‘great’ PM is not a cunning man, nor a particularly smart man. No, he couldn’t organise an Argos catalogue. Motivated purely by profit and self-interest, Boris Johnson has a no regard for the working-class people of the country he is duty bound to serve. In fact, I’d bet money my 7-month-old son could do a better job than Boris and this morning I had to pick vegetables out his belly button.
Every day, I pinch myself just to make sure that this is not a nightmare. With his ‘oven ready’ Brexit deal, that apparently must have expired as there is no such deal to be seen. His £350 million a week for the NHS, a proven lie, no surprise! The Tories’ abysmal handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, wasting taxpayers’ money on private contracts that don’t deliver, Track and Trace, Serco, blah blah blah. To save myself writing a novel I’ll let you know now that the list continues on and on and on, this week being no exception.
In a transparent attempt to save his own skin, Boris Johnson along with other members of his party voted to change the rules to suit themselves. They themselves have second jobs, are likely jealous of Owen Paterson’s £1/2 million ‘bonus’ and frustrated they cannot do the same. Or scared of getting caught themselves. The short of it is that MP Owen Paterson was found guilty of taking a bribe, paid lobbying. However, the Tories, rightful as ever saw fit to undermine Kathryn Stone, the Standards Commissioner and overturn the recommended 30-day suspension. Cabinet minister Kwasi Kwarteng said Kathryn Stone should consider her position. In other words, ‘the teacher said he did a bad thing and put my friend on the naughty step, I don’t like the naughty step because I want to break to rules as well. It’s not fair! It’s not fair!’
Is it any coincidence that Mr Johnson himself was due to be investigated a 4th time by Stone for breaking the ministerial code? I think not. This is a perfect example of how the Tories view themselves and democracy. Even former Prime Minister Sir John Major has said this week that he is ‘concerned at how the government is behaving’.
We need to stop ministers from taking second jobs. Something Labour would have done in 2019 if Jeremy Corbyn had won the election. Labour should be shouting about this at the top of their voices, which indeed some of them are, high praises to Angel of the North Angela Rayner. However, the Leader Keir Starmer, who has repeatedly tried to distance himself from Corbyn remains weak in his opposition. No oomph! And this is the result; a Tory party left to their own devices. allowed to run riot. With a legacy of corruption. cronyism and heartless-ness this, the worst government ever, must be remembered in history for what they are. A dark stain on democracy.
