Dark days ahead!
I haven't written anything in a while. The honest truth is I stopped paying attention. It was, and still is, just unbearable. Fucking unbearable. There are no other words for it. Yet, one month on from my last blog and things have not got any better.
We are all fucked.
Since my last blog I check out.
Checked out of politics. Checked out of the news.
I'd simply had enough. I'm a political person, always had been, but everyone has their limits. Battling my way as best as I can though the never ending tsunami of tyrant capitalism. Drowning, nay, suffocating. Pummelled by wave after wave of steaming hot unaccountable and unrelenting Conservative elitism and privilege, spewing directly out the arsehole of Boris and his merry band with astonishingly velocity.
For my own sanity, I had no choice but to hop into my little yellow submarine and disappear. Only to resurface a month later to see that, not only has the storm has not yet past, it shows no signs of easing. Things are well and truly up shit creek and all my paddles are broke.
This out of touch, undeserving Government, drunk on power, are making decisions about my life! It would be a fallacy to say they've failed me, because it's plainly obvious they didn't even try. Helping me, people like me, the working class, was never on their agenda. The Tory voting middle 'classes' are finding out the hard way. The only solace being that they now have no choice but to see the blue party for what they are. A heartless and unfeeling clique, run by a school boy sociopath who like Peter Pan, never grew up.
Knock after knock.
The Policing Bill, the Schools Bill, the nationality and borders bill, stripping people of their citizenship, the steady and crippling privatisation of public health, (don't get me started on mainstream media promoting private health and paid prescriptions), voter ID, eating or heating, parties at Downing Street, the lost billions on the 'NHS' track and trace sham, breaking the law, breaking the ministerial code, no resignation. Painting a dark and bleak not so distant future. Where has our democracy gone?
Despite being worn and weather beaten, I bite the bullet. My mental health just about intact, I've had my break and I'm slowly tuning back in...
Will I regret it? Probably.
This week:
In the land of Tory misfit boys, the Chancellor's 'pragmatic' approach to utility companies 'extraordinary' profit is to tax them 'fairly'. Temporarily of course. Sounds much like the windfall solution Labour had been asking for 5 months ago, a solution that was just not possible. Until of course Boris needed another distraction. The Chancellor's statement being coincidentally released at the same time as the Sue Gray report.
Fuck 'em! Fuck 'em all.
Boris is now making changes to the ministerial code, watering it down, unlike the wine at number 10, to say the those that break the code don't have to resign after they break the ministerial code all while he is being investigated for breaking the ministerial code.
Those that fail to uphold democracy are a threat to democracy. Boris Johnson is a practising dictator, with a far right leaning, authoritarian government, sending asylum seekers to Rwanda, giving the police powers that are unnecessary, like being able to confiscate people homes for 'trespassing' when they literally have no where else to go and arresting those that speak out against it. So, to reiterate, we have a far right, authoritarian, unaccountable government (they even lied to the Queen), making the political choice to cut public services while giving further powers to the police and enforcing voter ID; disproportionately effecting those most likely to vote for the opposition. Sprinkle on a helping of selective reporting from the media and what do we have? This is, and I don't say this lightly, a recipe for fascism.
If that shocks you, it's because it should. If that seems extreme, it's because it is.
We are standing at the precipice. Speak now, speak now or forever hold your peace!
